No. 6 Episode 3 – The Wasps Explained
Shion and Nezumi are still in the outskirts of No. 6 and this time, more information is given about the city, the wasps and Shion’s white hair.

Shion and Nezumi are now outside No. 6. They both go ahead to Nezumi’s hideout full of banned books. Yes. No. 6 wants complete obedience of its citizens and things such as literature are banned (Shion, however intelligent he is, doesn’t know Macbeth.) Shion tries to ask if he can contact his mother to which Nezumi replies it’s impossible and risky.
Nezumi notices a black mark in Shion’s hand. Shion is shock and tries to reach the back of his neck where there is a huge black spot and excruciating pain. It is this pain that made Shion asks Nezumi to kill him. Of course, Nezumi refuses to do so and told Shion to live for the people that are dear to him. Nezumi proceeds to cut the black mark and he find out a pupa is living in that spot.
The pupa of course, will evolve into a wasp soon. It is what killed Shion’s friend and the man they found dead in Episode 2. This pupa hosts itself in humans and when it becomes a wasp it will try to kill its host.
Shion finally notices that his hair has change and he has some odd marks in his body. Shion goes into hysteria but Nezumi tells him to think of it as a trophy for surviving what could have killed him.
Nezumi and Shion goes outside to go to a “hotel.” The hotel is full of dogs and has a landlady who acts as Nezumi’s contact should he ever need one. The landlady Inukashi says she already has what Nezumi needs and find something more. It is a note from Shion’s mother. Apparently Nezumi sends one of his mice to get information. Shion proceeds to talks about how they could help the people of No. 6 from the wasps, to which Nezumi replies that if ever Shion tries to help No. 6, he will become his enemy.
Impressions and Final Thoughts
Interesting but not as interesting as episode 2. For one, there is lack of action and full of conversations plus some awkward scenes. Should ever my hair turned white out of the blue, it will take me a longer time to comprehend what happens and much longer time for me to accept that my appearance will not be the same as before. Shion, after undergoing a transformation, took just about 5 minutes or so. Wow!
Will Shion actually helps the people of No. 6 and expose the bad habits of the government? I’m getting the feeling that he will, and Nezumi can’t stop him. We are at episode 3 and approaching the middle of the series. I hope the next one will be good.
I wonder when did he acquire that. Is it when he was unconscious or everyone in the city were already exposed to that?
I was thinking that he got it in episode 2 either while they were escaping or in that place where Shion’s coworker dies. It’s either the government can manipulate (select) which person can have those wasps (of course those who will be subversive like Shion) or the one you mentioned. I have to admit the coworker suddenly turning old – the process itself – is kind of creepy. >..<
