Dantalian no Shoka Episode 3 – The Queen of the Night
Huey meets up with his childhood friend to catch up with a lot of things and talk about a group students suddenly becoming extremely intelligent only a phantom book could have done.

Huey is with Dalian in a bookstore and they meet Camilla, Huey’s childhood friend. They all went to her house to catch up on things.
In there Camilla mentions a rival teacher who has a phantom book and uses it to make her students smart. Huey immediately wants to search for the book while Dalian is reluctant about it.
They find the students in a certain place and they all look bored (and sharp.) The kids hand over the phantom book without a fight, to which Huey is shocked. They also explain that they will be foolish to turn into crime and not even thinking about taking over the world because they are smart. Dalian explains that the kids know everything that they even know the risks of doing those. Huey burns the book afterwards.
The next part of the series concerns 2 burglars attempting to look for the book called the Queen of the Night. The 2 manage to take Huey and Dalian hostage. Dalian mentions that they don’t have that book.
It turns out that the Queen of the Night is actually a carnivorous plant that blossoms only after every sixteen years. It has a flower shape like a book (which is really a book o.o that Dalians tries to read because it will be after 16 years before the Queen of the Night blooms again. The 2 burglars ultimately become victims of the carnivorous plant.
Impressions
2 stories in 1 episode. The build up is quick and so does the resolution too. I wonder why the animators choose this kind of format for episode 3. Is this just a filler episode? But I think it was Camilla which we can see in the OP so I guess she isimportant after all.
The amount of references to real life events are peppered throughout the course of the episode. We see Dalian making a fuss over Camilla’s clothes, which he bought in New York. The clothes while not short by today’s standards are shorter than what is considered decent in England at that time.Dalian fusses over Camila’s lack of decency by wearing those clothes, and mentions that if the later generation wear those kinds of clothes in the future then the world will have no hope. Haha. sorry Dalian. xD
Final Thoughts
It’s always interesting to watch every episode of Dantalian no Shoka. I just hope we get to see some build ups inthe next episodes.

The O_O: They actually leave the burglars inside the plant and not even bothering to call the police o.o
I’m quite surprised about the two cases. Not only they are both shorter than the previous ones, but also quite disturbing especially the case about the burglars. Perhaps the reason they didn’t call the police was because they wouldn’t believe a (dangerous) carnivorous plant ate them? But it would be better if the authorities have the idea about this kinds of organizations. O.O
Exactly. You see, it’s like they just left them (the burglars) there since they do no good to society. O.O I like how the episode handles the book of wisdom. Lol.. If there is only a book like that in reality….. =))
